Top Pharmaceutical Company


Client: One of the world‘s top firms, specialising in drugs for gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, neurology and oncology therapy areas.

Brief: Over an intensive two month period prepare a young senior manager, tipped for further success, for a significant and challenging overseas assignment where his current leadership style and youth may be perceived as an impediment.

Strategy: The strategy consisted of four main approaches...
- understand cultural challenges
- elicit feedback from senior sources about likely obstacles to sucess
- assess the clients current leadership strengths and liabilities
- coach the gaps

Plan: Using 360 degree emotional intelligence tool the client‘s leadership strengths and liabilities were identified and a prioritised change plan agreed. Coaching, augmented by video-recorded role play, was additionally used to raise self-awareness and assist the client in developing confidence and greater gravitas. At the start of the overseas assignment further support was provided by telephone.

Results: The client was extremely well received into the new role and quickly establsihed credibility. The initial concerns about youth and presence quickly disappeared as the client became established and delivered the significant changes the business required.

Global Insurance Provider


Client: A dominant player, lively in Europe, with aggressive plans for growth within Asia.

Brief: Against a backcloth of rapid re-organisation Clearsight Executive was asked to accelerate the development of a newly formed IT Leadership Team (LT) with responsibilities for 3,000 staff in UK and India. Our challenge was to get the team to a point of high-performance as defined by a set of pre-agreed measures within six months.

Strategy: The strategy consisted of three main approaches...
- assess leadership strengths and liabilities and how these enable and hamper success
- use a model for high-performing team development to identify gaps and develop a change plan
- understand the ‘climate‘ the LT creates and examine it‘s impact on the broader organisation

Plan: The LT members were all UK based which allowed for dedicated face-to-face time on a monthly basis. Face-to-face meetings were used to identify gaps and review actions against the team development change plan. Each meeting lasted a day and in all 5 meetings were held in a six month period. Additionally, individual LT members were coached throughout the assignment on a 1:1 basis every two weeks. Coaching focussed on individual leadership areas and specific LT contribution.

Results: The team flourished and measurable improvements in staff satisfaction surveys were achieved in 3 months. Additionally, after just 5 months the team was able to negotiate significant, and further, re-organisation as a result of company-wide job cuts of 20%.
